Yoga Workshop - Sarah Dawson (Active Class)
- I've been practising yoga since I was 15 years old, and completed an intensive yoga teacher training course in India, in 2007. I’m a fully insured and qualified Sivananda yoga teacher (200 hrs RYS), as well as a registered student Dru Yoga teacher (training finishes, May 2012). Since early 2008 I’ve been teaching yoga indoors, outdoors, with children and in the workplace. I’m the author of ‘Everyday Yoga, The Essential Guide (2011, www.need2knowbooks.co.uk, £9.99), and a yoga columnist / contributor to health and wellbeing publications.
- I’m passionate about the benefits of yoga and my aim is to make yoga accessible to all, regardless of age, ability or previous experience. I teach two weekly drop-in classes in Hove. In my classes, students experience deep relaxation through awareness of the breath, and the gentle, flowing, yet dynamic asanas and sequences which re-balance the body, mind and soul.
- In the workshop (2-3pm, 30 September) I'll be blending traditional Sivananda (hatha yoga) with some flowing Dru sequences. We'll start with a five minute relaxation (savasana), some breathing exercises (pranayama) and stretches then move into some flowing sequences and postures finishing, finishing with a ten minute relaxation at the end.
