The ancient art of Sugaring!
Are you one of the 20 million women in the UK, who are constantly trying to find the answer to the problem of unwanted hair? Or perhaps you are looking for a way to feel pampered, revived and generally feel positive about your appearance?
If yes, read on to find out why 1000’s of women know that they have found the solution – SUGARING!!
So what is Sugaring?
Sugaring is the ancient Arabic art of removing unwanted hair from the face and body. Sugaring has been practised in parts of North and East Africa for hundreds of years. Women of these times did not have the modern-day inventions of showers and deodorants in order to remain fresh and clean. Arabic women found that it was much easier to keep their personal hygiene levels high in their hot climate, if they removed their pubic and underarm hair. They were so impressed with the effects that their body hair removal techniques had on their skin that they began to experiment on the rest of their body. They felt smooth, clean and more positive about themselves. This led to sugaring being introduced into part of their tradition and culture.
Today it is now customary that when an Arabic girl reaches the age of 14 (and is ready to marry), she is sugared all over. The only hair left on her body is her eyebrows, eyelashes and the hair on her head. From that day onwards, she is sugared at regular intervals until after a period of time; her hair growth diminishes and eventually ceases to grow altogether.
Sugaring was brought to this country in 1984, by a Tunisian lady who realised that there was a large gap in the market for a more effective, less painful and more pleasant hair removal technique.
Helena Sugaring was founded in 1995, by Helen Hanrahan and their headquarters are based in Somerset. At Helena, the sugaring technique is taught as it was practised all those years ago in the Middle East. They believe that sugaring is still an art form and therefore all practitioners are highly skilled and have a thorough and detailed training in this ancient art.
So why is Sugaring so good?
- Sugaring is the most EFFECTIVE and least painful method of complete hair removal.
- The paste is completely NATURAL and is made from sugar, lemon juice and water.
- The process is performed by a highly trained practitioner, who is careful to support the skin and remove the paste with a quick flick.
- The hair is removed from the root and re-growth is softer, sparser and lighter in colour.
- With continued treatments, hair growth can diminish and eventually cease.
So who can be Sugared?
ANYONE!! You are never too young or too old to pamper or look after yourself.
Because the paste is natural and the treatment is so gentle, any area of the face or body can be treated.
